Welcome to my blog! Throughout the next five or so weeks you will take the journey with me through the creation of a film opening.
My partner Erica and I have gone through many back and forths this week trying to figure out what genre to select for the film, an enticing opening, and the art direction for the film. Although many ideas were tossed around, I think we have finally come up with an idea that works for both of us and will call for great audience involvement in the viewing of the film.
We have decided to go with the genre of a psychological thriller. Instead of taking the normal, more cliche route (someone is convicted of a crime and the film is spent trying to revive the memory of the incident), we have chosen to reverse the situation. Basically, our film is about a girl who believes she has committed a crime when she really hasn't, as it is later found out that the person the girl believes she killed never existed. In fact, the girl hears many voices that don't exist as the audience will come to learn.
Within the film, everyone is calling the girl crazy, but she firmly believes that she is not. This film would be one that would scare you physically and mentally. Although we have since changed the idea, I've attached a screenshot from another, slightly similar, more cliche idea for our story. Please feel free to check it out.
Sooooo, stay tuned to find out what happens during the pre-production, production, and editing of this film opening!!
